Some challenges that you’ll encounter when shooting on location is that sometimes weather is not your side. Well thank god to modern technology now, you can change the white balance and gel your strobes to balance it back or get the color/effect that you want or maybe you just plain bored. . Hope this will inspire and instigate new ideas. .
Setup for all photos are Nikon CLS with TTL and EV compensation triggered with SB-900 on camera except the test shot.
1) Test shot. Boring sky.
2) Normal setup with auto wb and no gel on strobes.
3) White balance = 2500K and 1/2 CTO (color temperature orange) gel on strobes. The white balance used here is to get the electric blue sky and the gel to balance it back as well to get the correct skin tone.
4) White balance = 10000K and 1/2 CTB (color temperature blue) gel on strobes. The white balance used here is to get the golden sunset and the gel to balance it back as well to get the correct skin tone.
lastly when the sun is down. u’ll get this effect. Stormy cloud with WB= 10000K.
